River Cottage HQ (Park Farm) is a base for running courses and events inspired by the philosophy of the original River Cottage ranging from a nights dining and entertainment, through to courses in foraging, curing, breadmaking, butchery and more.

River Cottage also has a Local Produce Store in Axminster, with a wonderful collection of local and organic food & drink producers from the South West. They stock a wide selection of the very best local and seasonal provisions including milk, eggs, bread, meat,poultry, beers and wines. The Axminster Canteen annexed to the Local Produce Store serves meals during the day and is open for evening service and Sunday lunch.

Axminster

Axminster is a small friendly market town with the amenities you would expect from a larger town. It boasts many family run businesses and specialists shops including the famous Axminster carpets, Axminster Power Tools which runs a variety of courses and Hughs famous River Cottage shop and canteen and Headquarters just up the road from our B&B.

Hunters Lodge

Our local family friendly pub is a 16th Century Coaching Inn named Hunters Lodge is only 2 minutes by car or 15 minute walk. There are two supermarkets on the edge of town and a bustling market in the town square on Thursdays selling local produce and crafts. There are a wide variety of venues for eating out with welcoming cafes, restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes.

Hix Oyster & Fish House - Lyme Regis


The Oyster and Fish House opened its doors in June 2008. The restaurant overlooks The Cobb in Lyme Regis with uninterrupted views of the Jurassic coastline and Lyme Regis fishing port, where John Fowles The French Lieutenants Woman was filmed.
The location of Fish House is hard to beat. It has a small terrace with a wooden bar seats up to eight people - easily the best spot on the South West coast to enjoy lobster and chips or a dozen oysters and bottle of Champagne whilst gazing out to sea - and floor to ceiling windows that open out giving diners great views and an inside/outside dining experience.

LYME REGIS

Lyme Regis is steeped in history and full of charm, surrounded by unspoilt countryside and beautiful clean beaches, it has a unique captivating vibrant atmosphere.
It has many shops and a marine theater, museum and a town mill. Through the year they have a Fossil festival, Jazz Festival, & the famous Lifeboat Week

Charmouth

Charmouth is one of the ITV drama Broadchurch locations, it lies on the jurassic coast and is acknowledged as having one of the finest fossil beaches in Europe. Charmouth Heritage coast centre on the sea front runs events all year round including fossil hunting expeditions, rock pool rambles, plankton trawls and fossil hunting weekends.
Charmouth village has a relaxed pace of life with shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs.

ITV Drama - Broadchurch

Broadchurch is a TV drama filmed mainly in West Bay, Dorset, which is only 3.6 miles from our B&B. The cast includes David Tennant, Olivia Colman, Andrew Buchan, Jodie Whittaker, Charlotte Rampling, Pauline Quirke and Arthur Darvill.
It seemed the murder of 11 year old Danny Latimer had been solved by Detective Inspector Alec Hardy. But to the shock of everyone in the courtroom including the accused's lawyer, Joe Miller pleads "Not Guilty". A past case of Hardy's still haunts him in the form of Sandbrook.


West Bay


West Bay is one of the main locations for filming the famous Broadchurch series staring David Tennant. With the stunning golden glow of the majestic sandstone cliffs and the shimmering radiance of Golden Cap, West Bay, Dorset is the Golden Gateway to the Jurassic Coast. West Bay nestles south of Bridport, between Eype with Seatown to the west and Freshwater with Burton Bradstock to the east.

Beer


Nestling in a sunny valley, its soaring white cliffs forming both a sheltered cove for its fishing fleet and a sun trap for visitors. Here you can hire boats and deckchairs, swim in the clear sea or just relax taking in the view.There are also regular angling trips throughout the season while in August you can join in the regatta week including the famous barrel rolling.
